Car Crash in Clairemont Kills One

San Diego, CA — One person died and another was sent to the hospital after a crash in San Diego on Wednesday around 12:30pm.

The collision happened at the intersection of Genesee Avenue and Chateau Drive.

A 54-year-old man, traveling south on Genesee Avenue in a 2004 Lexus, ran a red light. As the Lexus was turning onto Chateau Drive, it collided with a 2018 Tesla SUV driven by a 73-year-old man.

The driver of the Lexus died in the crash. He was driving without a seatbelt on. Medics transported the 73-year-old man to the hospital with arm pain.

Roads closed for the investigation.
