This annual event allows MADD staff and volunteers to provide emotional support and assistance to victims and families, show their support for law enforcement, work with legislators to toughen laws, and support the development of new technology to identify drunk drivers. The funds raised from Walk Like MADD go towards achieving these goals and are instrumental in helping MADD continue in its mission to end drunk driving. Thousands of people in nearly 100 cities across the country participate in these walkathons to show their support.
According to MADD:

- Every day in America, 28 people are killed in drunk driving crashes
- Two in three people, on average, will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime
Gordon Levinson is a member of MADD San Diego’s Advisory Board and has been asked to speak about the crime of drunk driving at several walkathons over the past 11 years.
