SUV Plunges Off I-15 Embankment in North County Killing One Woman
On Thursday May 30th, a woman suffered serious injuries then later passed away after her SUV fell off an embankment on Interstate 15.
The car fell roughly 200 feet down the embankment in North County according to authorities.
The incident was just after 6:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-15 in rural Fallbrook near Stewart Canyon Road and Mission Road.
Officials rescued the woman from her Subaru and quickly got her back up the embankment. The woman had life-threatening injuries and was immediately rushed to Palomar Medical Center.
No information on the woman’s identity is available, but she later died of her injuries.
California Highway Patrol said the accident was a two-vehicle collision. The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation.
Fire and medic teams believe the woman was the only occupant of her vehicle. They searched the surrounding area for other victims, but none were found.
The second car in the crash was a silver Honda and no one appeared to suffer any injuries. No other details were immediately available.
