Two San Marcos residents were involved in a car crash in Carlsbad on Sunday at the intersection of Aviara Parkway and Cobblestone Road.
According to reports, the Carlsbad police and emergency responders responded to the scene after receiving reports about a Honda Civic that had crashed into a light pole just before 6 p.m.
The driver, a 37-year-old male driver, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The passenger, a 41-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is believed to be DUI-related.
The incident remains under investigation.
