Cyclist Involved in Escondido Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision

Escondido, CA — A bicyclist was involved in a fatal crash Saturday. The accident occurred on La Honda Drive when a vehicle struck a cyclist head-on.

When authorities arrived, they pronounced the cyclist dead at the scene. The vehicle involved in the collision fled. The driver has not yet been found.

Daley Ranch Recreation area, as well as Dixon Lake, closed while authorities investigated the scene.

Police are asking citizens who may have witnessed the accident to call EPD Officer Adan Martinez at (760) 839-4465.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated. Drugs or alcohol have not been ruled out.
